Top 5 Winger/Fullback Options for NRL Fantasy

Top 5 Winger/Fullback Options for NRL Fantasy

Article by John

As we enter the final stretch of the NRL Fantasy season, the Wing/Fullback (WFB) position becomes increasingly critical. Although not the most consistent, this position offers immense upside, with the potential for scores ranging from 60 to 90 and even pushing into triple digits. Here are the top five WFB options I recommend for the run home.

James Tedesco | $815K

James Tedesco tops my list as the best WFB option for the run home. While he has posted some low scores (a 30 and a 29), his upside is unmatched, with a season average of 56.2. Despite having a bye next week, his remaining fixtures are favorable, with all opponents outside the top 8. Tedesco has delivered scores above 60 in nearly 60% of games where he plays the full 80 minutes. Although he isn't a POD with 65% ownership among the top 5000 coaches, Tedesco is a must-have for your side.

Jayden Campbell | $713K

Jayden Campbell has been on fire since his move to five-eighth, making him the second-best option for the run home. Campbell has averaged 63 points since switching to the 6 jersey, only dipping below 50 once. Even when the Titans have struggled, Campbell has managed solid scores, with a 42 and a 57 in games where the Titans were dominated by the Rabbitohs and Sea Eagles. Though there is a slight injury concern with his hand, Campbell’s form makes him a fantastic addition to your squad.

Kalyn Ponga | $688K

Despite the Knights' inconsistent form, Kalyn Ponga remains a top WFB option. When playing the full 80 minutes this season, Ponga has averaged 54 points, and this includes just one try. Historically, Ponga has been a reliable fantasy asset, with a 61-point average in 2023. Priced at a 49-point average, Ponga is underpriced for the run home, making him a value pick. Additionally, with only 6.7% ownership among the top 5000 coaches, Ponga serves as a POD for the final rounds.

Reuben Garrick | $593K

Reuben Garrick is another excellent choice for the run home. Garrick has posted a season average of 53 points when playing the full 80 minutes, and at $593K, he is severely underpriced. With dual-position flexibility (CTR and WFB), a favorable run of fixtures with three of the next five opponents outside the top 8, and 77% of his scores above 40 points, Garrick is a great option for your side.

Reece Walsh | $710K

Reece Walsh, known for his electrifying play, is also a strong WFB option for the run home. When playing the full 80 minutes, Walsh averages 55 points and provides excellent upside while maintaining consistency, with 82% of his scores above 40. Despite playing in a Broncos side fighting for a top 8 spot and having a bye in the coming weeks, Walsh’s attacking threat and likelihood of playing in the final round make him an attractive POD option, with only 5% ownership among the top 5000 teams.

Special Mention: Keano Kini

Keano Kini deserves a special mention as a potential POD for the run home. With the ability to break games open, Kini could be a wildcard option for those looking to take a calculated risk. While his role and role may be uncertain, his talent and potential make him one to watch closely in the coming rounds.

The WFB position may be volatile, but with the right selections, it can be the key to a strong finish in NRL Fantasy. Whether you go for proven performers or take a gamble on a POD, these options should help you maximize your points and climb the ranks as the season draws to a close.
