Top 5 Guns to Target for Round 23 (NRL Fantasy)

Top 5 Guns to Target for Round 23 (NRL Fantasy)

If you've played it right, you've got plenty of cash & trades to be building the ultimate NRL Fantasy roster.

As one of the poor souls with 1 trade remaining due to what appears to be a curse placed on me for indiscretions in a former life, I may have to use my last trade on a couch to hide behind, as I won't be able to target some of these players I don't own (thankfully owning 3 of these 5).

Without further delay, here are the 5 NRL Fantasy weapons you need in your arsenal for the run home!

Nathan Cleary (expected price 941k, average 74.6 excluding injury)
In a little known recent adaptation of Toy Story, it was quoted "If you haven't got a Cleary, get one."

The highest averaging player in the game (excluding injury) has sent a message to those hoping his price would drop pumping out another ton with only 2 TA to show in the attacking stats, with roughly 32% of the top 1000, yet to return to Cleary's warm embrace.

In what has been a tight tussle between the King of Fantasy across 2023, Cleary showed his credentials for the Rule #1.

Latrell Mitchell (expected price 727k, average 54.1)
Another playing returning from injury with a bang, and only 14th in the most traded in list for R22, Latrell showed an ability to rack up the points without any , attacking stats (except for goals), expressed through an OFH by pinging a speculator halfway across the field for 4 juicy points.

With 3 juicy matchups in his last 4 (against Sharks, Dragons and Roosters) and Souths gunning for the top 8,  it is now or never for the upside play, with an unfortunate bye to come in R26.

Cameron McInnes (expected price 705k, average 48.4)
You get a tackle, you get a tackle, everybody gets a tackle. In what can only be described as Oprah Winfrey having a malfunction, McInnes tackled himself to a record-breaking standstill of 81 tackles in 80 mins (pending updates), begging the question of what was every other Sharks forward doing.

Don't let the overall average fool you, with McInnes showing in the 2022 run home, his ability to elevate to mid-to-high 50s without Finucane (44.7 average with Finucane, compared to his average without Finucane of 57.7 in 2022 and now 55.3 in 2023)

Dane Gagai (expected price 670k, average 52.6)
With WFB & CTR dishing up some absolute stinkers in R22, that yours truly can claim ownership of most of (Manu, Edwards, Walsh), perhaps now is the time to use a luxury trade on one of the most surprising PODs for the entire year.

Gagai has showed an amazing consistency for a CTR, with only 2 scores below 30 this year, and 4 out of 5 favourable matchups to boot (Dolphins, Bulldogs, Sharks, Dragons), he could be the POD to win a H2H final, or boost you up the overall ranks to finish the season.

Isaah Yeo (expected price 834k, average 64.1)
Last but not least, another surprising POD, who has finally started to climb up towards 20% ownership in the top 1k, is the ever reliable Isaah Yeo. Described by the NRL Fantasy Amateurs as needing a DLC to trade him in, Yeo has pumped out 60s with no-one batting an eyelid for the majority of the season.

The only concern with this one, is your amount of Panthers (& Eels) players that could become an issue in R27 with restings, so this may be one to check your team balance and trades remaining before going Pay to Win and downloading the DLC.
