NRL Fantasy Trade Review - Part 3

In this second part of our NRL Fantasy recap, we'll continue to delve into the trades and decisions that shaped our season.

Round 17 (3 trades)

• Out: Nikorima (273k profit)

• In: Grant (B)

• Out: Oloapu (83k profit)

• In: SSmith (B-)

• Out: Billy Smith (20k profit)

• In: Bird (E-)

We finally parted ways with Billy Smith, who averaged in the 20s under our ownership compared to the 50s when not on our team. Yet, the allure of Bird's out-of-position status led us astray, and we overlooked his frequent knee injuries, which, unsurprisingly, struck again.

Bringing Bird back late in the season was a poor process. Out-of-position centers weren't significantly better than high-upside centers like Tago or Lomax, who could provide attacking stats and maintain a high floor.

Round 18 (1 trade)

• Out: Walsh (13k profit)
• In: Yeo (C+)

Once again, we displayed poor process by second-guessing Origin squads. Instead of sticking with a solid strategy, we made questionable decisions.

Round 19 (1 trade)

• Out: Bird (38k loss)
• In: SRussell (E+)

We were tempted by Russell playing fullback during the bye, ignoring his history on the wing for no apparent reason. The obvious choice of Kris as a cash-out center was overlooked.

Round 20 (3 trades)

• Out: Turpin (111k profit)

• In: HGraham (C-)

• Out: Liddle (91k profit)

• In: Fifita (C+)

• Out: Bula (292k profit)

• In: Garrick (B)

Injuries began to affect our squad, and we should have prioritized a more balanced team. We took a risk with HGraham as a cash-out, which didn't pay off. Buying Garrick was fortunate, thanks to his DPP status without a clear reason.

Round 21 (3 trades)

• Out: Robson (172k loss)

• In: Cleary (B+)

• Out: Asofa-Solomona (79k profit)

• In: Colquhoun (D)

• Out: Preston (405k profit)

• In: Nikora (D)

We seemed to have a fascination with cash-outs lacking job security. Preston's flu and missed games put us in a tough spot, leading to a questionable purchase of Nikora.

Round 22 (1 trade)

• Out: Tohu (11k profit)
• In: Latrell

Word on the street was that Tohu wouldn't get 80 minutes for the rest of the season. During the bye, we traded him for Latrell, hoping for an upside as we hovered around the top 1k with no clear direction.

Round 24 (1 trade)*

• Out: HGraham (54k profit)
• In: DRussell

Depending on Edwards' score in the loop, our final trade may go to DRussell. Poor squad management left our EMG in dire straits.

In this whirlwind season of NRL Fantasy, we've seen the highs and lows of decision-making. Lessons learned, strategies refined, and next season, we aim for better trades and decisions. Until then, let's hope for a strong finish!
