NRL Fantasy Trade Review - Part 2

As any NRL Fantasy manager knows, the season can be a rollercoaster of trades, decisions, and the occasional bout of regret. In this recap, we'll break down the key moments and trades that shaped our Fantasy journey.

Round 9 (2 trades)

• Out: IThompson (44k profit)

• In: Bula (A+)

• Out: EKatoa (144k profit)

• In: Cotter (E-)

At the start of the season, optimism was high. We made a swift trade for Cotter after Anzac Day, expecting him to avoid Origin duties. Unfortunately, Lady Luck wasn't on our side as Cotter turned in his lowest-ever score.

Round 10 (3 trades)

• Out: Cotter (23k loss)

• In: Hopgood (C)

• Out: Murray (86k loss)

• In: Horsburgh (A)

• Out: Alamoti (169k profit)

• In: Lemeulu (B-)

A moment of frustration led to a rash Cotter trade. And overlooking JDB's rise to prominence was a mistake. Horsburgh's arrival was a bright spot, though we missed out on Lemeulu's earlier glory due to bye fears.

Round 11 (1 trade)

• Out: Ford (154k profit)
• In: Tatola (C)

With Ford on a bye, we missed a chance to grab a fallen gun. Our reluctance to do so was glaring. Plus, our inexplicable belief that Tatola was a MID ripe for attacking stats left us scratching our heads.

Round 12 (1 trade)

• Out: Tedesco (66k loss)
• In: Billy Smith (F)

This trade proved that emotions and trading don't mix. Overreacting to Tedesco's previous poor score, we hastily brought in Billy Smith, a decision we'd come to regret.

Round 13 (3 trades)

• Out: BSmith (97k profit)

• In: Harris (B)

• Out: Frizell (89k profit)

• In: Moses (B-)

• Out: Miller (127k profit)

• In: Ponga (A+)

Ponga's discount and return to fullback paid off, but holding Miller just for the bye was a flawed strategy. We oversubscribed with 3 HLFs for the bye and still played short at WFB. A clear case of poor decision-making.

Round 14 (3 trades)

• Out: IKatoa (191k profit)

• In: Oloapu (C+)

• Out: Host (28k profit)

• In: Bateman (A)

• Out: Bird (74k profit)

• In: Liddle (C-)

Once again, our focus on the distant future led us astray. We wasted time deciding between Liddle and Turpin for an R19 bye that never materialized.

Round 15 (1 trade)

• Out: Cleary (36k profit)
• In: Marzhew (C-)

While the trade made sense, our confidence in predicting the NSW Origin team influenced our choice. We could have brought in Turpin or Hynes, which would have been wiser moves.

Round 16 (4 trades)

Ever had your player dropped a week after buying him before a major bye? We checked that box with Edwards. We finally grabbed Turpin but missed the earlier boat, and Moses' Origin selection cost us precious points.
