NRL Fantasy 2023: Canterbury Bulldogs's Fantasy Performance

In a rough season for the Bulldogs, we saw some top tier Fantasy performances. While the Doggies roster isn't known for top tier consistency, players like Kiraz, Preston & Burton showed they're capable of making the leap.

In this article, we will delve into the performance of each NRL team and their players throughout the NRL Fantasy Football season. As we know, real-life football prowess doesn't always translate into Fantasy success. Player scores are tracked through defensive and offensive stats. Bulldogs

Max King: After an impressive 2022, King's 2023 performance was slightly underwhelming due to reduced playing time. His average dipped to just under the high 40s. While not a top-tier keeper, he falls somewhere between average and below average this year. Fantasy Rating: 6/10

Jacob Preston: Preston emerged as a standout this year, transitioning from a cash cow to keeper status. His impressive journey secured an average just below 52 for the season. While not quite top-tier, he proved his capability. Fantasy Rating: 8/10

Matt Burton: Burton maintained his consistency with another solid year. Despite a promising starting price, his average remained just below 50. While steady, he doesn't reach keeper status for halves. Fantasy Rating: 7/10

Toby Sexton: An injury-laden year for Sexton, compounded by a mid/late-season move to Canterbury. Limited game time hampers a comprehensive analysis, but he hasn't yet reached keeper status in the halves position. A better 2024 is anticipated. Fantasy Rating: 7/10

Reed Mahoney: Mahoney's departure from Parramatta was a blow for fans and Fantasy owners alike. Unfortunately, his 2023 performance couldn't replicate his 2022 form. He doesn't quite achieve his former levels. Fantasy Rating: 6/10

Jacob Kiraz: Kiraz, though not on my team, had his moments as a POD. His late-season form was promising, averaging 40 with strong base stats. While he hit a 90 early on, he's not at keeper status. Valuable cover for finals. Fantasy Rating: 6/10

Harrison Edwards: Edwards showed potential as a cash cow, catching my attention with his work rate. A starting spot in 2024 could elevate his status. Keep an eye on his starting price and development. (Cash cow/eye on him in 2024) Fantasy Rating: 6/10

Jake Averillo: Averillo's season began with promise at a low starting price of $370k. While he had his ups and downs, his dual position status provided flexibility. Not a genuine bargain cash cow, but served its purpose for upgrades. Fantasy Rating: 6/10

Josh Addo-Carr: Injuries marred Addo-Carr's 2023 season, making it a hit-or-miss journey. He straddles the line between top-tier gun and second-level performer, with form inconsistencies. An unfortunate year for the Fox. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Corey Waddell: Waddell's role within the Bulldogs' pack varied, affecting his minutes and Fantasy output. However, he capitalized on some big minutes patches. His strong base stats and dual position status make him a player to watch upon securing a permanent starting spot. Fantasy Rating: 5/10

Hayze Perham: With a starting price just below $300k, Perham yielded gains for owners. Strong base stats contributed to his growth, but try-scoring opportunities were limited. Fantasy Rating: 5/10

Tevita Pangai Junior: Pangai Junior's season had its ups and downs, impacted by his minutes on the field. Occasional big scores weren't consistent, averaging around 38. His price drop may make him appealing for 2024. Fantasy Rating: 5/10

Paul Alamoti: Alamoti's early low price attracted many owners, offering utility value as a 18th man. While his average hovers around 30, he served as a useful backup option. Fantasy Rating: 5/10

Jayden Okunbor: Okunbor's minutes in the back row didn't translate into stellar Fantasy scores. His DPP status didn't yield the desired outcomes. A work rate increase is needed for future consideration. Fantasy Rating: 5/10

Raymond Faitala-Mariner: A season of mixed performances and varying starting positions impacted Faitala-Mariner's scores. Averaging in the low 30s, his minutes affected his Fantasy contribution. His 2024 price will be telling. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Kyle Flanagan: Flanagan's game time alongside Burton resulted in an average just shy of 30. With low ownership, he's not worth the investment considering his price. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Ryan Sutton: Sutton's first year with Canterbury started well but tapered off. He works hard when on the field, but his fading form impacts his Fantasy potential. Watch his 2024 price. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Kurtis Morrin: Morrin's potential cash cow status didn't fully materialize. While he made money for some, missed tackles hampered his scores. Game time improvement could make him a future prospect. Fantasy Rating: 3/10

Braidon Burns: Limited games impacted Burns, but he managed a decent average of 36. DPP status adds to his appeal at the back. Wishing him a healthier 2024. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Karl Oloapu: Starting at a bargain base price, Oloapu saw a $146k profit for those who invested early. His future hinges on game time and development. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Blake Wilson: Wilson's mid-season appearance showed promise. With fluctuations and a base price, he yielded potential gains for owners. Watch for his 2024 price. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Viliame Kikau: Kikau's injury-affected season at Canterbury was disappointing. While he occasionally showcased his prowess, he wasn't the force he was with the Panthers. His 2024 starting price will determine his appeal. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Jackson Topine: Limited appearances led to decreased cash for Topine. His DPP status didn't pan out as expected, and he lost value throughout the season. Fantasy Rating: 4/10

Fa’amanu Brown: Brown's injury woes affected his Fantasy potential. DPP status and past performances make him a viable extra hooker or cow when healthy. Fantasy Rating: 3/10

Canterbury Bulldogs Fantasy Prowess: 124
